Kenneth LeRoy Whittaker
Kenneth LeRoy Whittaker, age 91, formerly of 1230 North 25th St., Quincy, died on Friday, June 6, 2014 at 3:00 a.m. in North Adams Home, Mendon. He was born on June 11, 1922 in Adams County, IL, a son of Ralph Whittaker & Bertha (Rosenkoetter) Whittaker Buckman. He married Virginia M. Ohnemus on May 30, 1942 in Palmyra, MO. She preceded him in death on January 17, 2010.
Kenneth retired as a welder after 42 years of service with Gardner-Denver Company.
He was a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was past president and a lifetime member of South Side Boat Club.
Kenneth was an active volunteer, delivering Meals-on-Wheels and serving mass for many years on the K of C’s Mass for the Shut-Ins. He enjoyed many activities, including boating, fishing, golfing, bowling, pitching horseshoes & playing cards. He particularly cherished time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

FOUR SONS: Daniel Whittaker and his wife Ann of Marcelline, IL; Glenn Whittaker of Quincy; Ronald Whittaker and his wife Rosie of Quincy and Roger Whittaker and his wife Sandy also of Quincy
TEN GRANDCHILDREN: Angela Fox; Andrea Michalak and her husband Steve, Wayne Whittaker; Tim Whittaker and his wife Misti; KJ Whittaker and his wife Julie; Lynne Wichmann and her husband Jeff; Renee Degitz, Rhonda Goodwin and her husband Shawn; Rochelle Howard and her husband Staven, and Shaun Whittaker.
GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Landon, Nolan, Eric, Neil, Carl, Dalton, Bailie, Drew, Ben, Gabe, Taylor, Blake, Maggie, Libby, Wesley, Gabriel, William and Eleanor.
ONE SISTER: Mary Gunther of Winter Haven, FL.
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends survive.
In addition to his wife, Virginia, and his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Mary Whittaker and a step-brother Harold Whittaker.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 9, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church by Rev. Roy Bauer. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday beginning at 12:00 noon until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the K of C’s TV Mass for the Shut-Ins, St. Francis Catholic Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
