Kathryn ‘Kay’ Shelts
Kathryn L. ‘Kay’ Shelts, age 90, of 2500 North 24th, died on Thursday, December 29, 2017 in St. Vincent Home. She was born on January 13, 1927 in Cooperstown, IL the daughter of Matt & Mary (Keltz) Volk. She married Roger L. Shelts on July 22, 1948 in Mt. Sterling, IL. He preceded her in death in July 1977. Kay worked in insurance sales and in healthcare as a RN. She was also the owner and operator of K&R Mobile Homes Sales and a Towing Company.
She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church. She also greatly enjoyed gardening and nursing.
She is survived by:
FOUR CHILDREN: Pamela Klauser of Quincy; Susan Maple and her husband Paul of Payson; Steven Shelts and his wife Cathy of Quincy; Phillip Shelts and his wife Malinda of Quincy.
ELEVEN GRANDCHILDREN: Adam J. Klauser and his wife Carmen; Roger R. Klauser and his wife Jennifer; Amy L. Green and her husband Dennis; Jamie E. Courtney and her husband Robbie; Julie A. Danker and her husband John; Lisa Krutmeier; Jacquelyn Weisenburger and her husband Bernard; Daniel Shelts and his wife Sarah; Jennifer McNay; Tasha Farris and her husband JJ; and Schuyler A. Shelts.

TWO BROTHERS: Larry Volk and his wife Jennifer; and Robert Volk.
THREE SISTERS: Agnes Patterson and her husband Robert; Sister Samuella, OP; Theresa Frazier and her husband Robert.
In addition to her husband, Kay was also preceded in death by her parents, a grandchild: Sarah Krutmeier; a great-grandchild Zoe Klauser; sons-in-law: Bob Klauser and Rodney Krutmeier, 3 brothers: Jim, Dick and Frank Volk; 1 sister: Shirley Langan.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 12:00 noon until the time of the services. Memorials may be made to the Blessing Reiman College of Nursing. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
