Kathryn Bell Jarvis, age 90, of Quincy, died on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 in Keokuk, Iowa in the home of her son, Delbert. She was born on August 19, 1931 in Farmington, IA the daughter of Lewis and Catherine E. (Phillips) Briley.

Kathryn married James B. Gilbert. Together they had six children. Later she married Tim Jarvis on August 18, 1989 in Paducah, KY. He preceded her in death on January 26, 2014.

Kathryn was a CNA at Sunset Home, and St. Joseph Hospital, Keokuk, Iowa an activity director at St. Vincent’s Home. She also was employed at the IGA in Keokuk.

She had taught Sunday School at Community Baptist Church in Keokuk. Kathryn loved her family most of all. Her dogs always had a special place in her heart too. She liked cooking, flower gardening, quilting and crocheting. She also liked traveling, reading, doing puzzles and visiting casinos.

She is survived by her children; Delbert (Kelley) Gilbert of Keokuk, James B. Gilbert of Keokuk and William (Phyllis) Gilbert of Quincy; fifteen grandchildren and numerous great and great-great children also survive.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, James and Tim, three daughters, Kathryn Louise Gilbert, Patty Jean Gilbert, and Karen Lynn McNett; a sister, Mary Young Helm, stepbrothers, Robert, Calvin, Wayne and Carl Davison.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 12:00 noon – 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment in Greenmount Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Quincy Humane Society.
