Kathleen S. Fisher

Kathleen S. Fisher, age 77, of Quincy, IL, passed away on January 1, 2025 in her home. She was born on June 14, 1947 in Los Angeles, CA, a daughter to Henry and Rubyjo (Baker) Schultz. Kathleen married James W. Fisher on February 12, 1977 in Hannibal, MO. He preceded her in death on November 28, 2020.

After graduating from Hannibal High School, Kathleen went on to obtain her bachelor’s degree in home economic education. She later earned her master’s degree in education. During her working years, Kathleen taught in Wyaconda, MO at the former high school. She later worked at Jim Huber as a lab technician and logistics coordinator until her retirement in 2015.

Kathleen was a member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ. She was also affiliated with the Order of the Eastern Star, Miriam Shrine, Elks Lodge, and the American Association of University Women. She was also active with the class of 1965 planning reunions. In her free time Kathleen enjoyed watching television and movies. Above all, she cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Kathleen is survived by her children: Jeff (Lori) Fisher of Columbia, MO and Sandra (Kevin) Burgess of Quincy, IL; Grandchildren: Erik and Mikal Burgess; Brandon (Monica) Fisher; Teressa (Daniel) Metcalf; Bo (Ava) Fisher; and Christian Fisher; and brother: Bob (Kamol) Schultz of California; Great grandchildren: Alex and Jason Parsons; Holly and Corbin Metcalf; Cole, Roman, and Wyatt Burgess; Dorian Mason; Corey, Michael, Dorian, Remington, Alexis, Coraline, Daxton, Eston, Ava Grace and Eli Fisher. Kathleen is also survived by one niece and nephew and their families.

In addition to her husband, Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents; sons: James Rhoten and Stephen Fisher, a brother, Chris Schultz and a grandson, Kale Fisher.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at 1:00 pm in the First Christian Church. Internment in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, from 11:00 am until the time of the funeral service. Memorials may be made to the Scholarship Foundation to the Order of the Eastern Star or the First Christian Church Scholarship Fund. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

    Kathleen and I worked together at Huber, I’m sorry for your loss, this saddens me to see.

    I was a part of the Grand Family of 2015 with Kathleen. I am very sorry for your loss. She will be missed.
