Kathleen Miller
Kathleen Marie Thomas Miller, age 88, of Quincy and formerly of Hannibal, died on Thursday, December 7, 2017 in Blessing Hospital surrounded by her family.
She was born November 21, 1929, in Chariton, IA, to George Wilson Thomas and Ruth Evangeline (Diven) Thomas Moore.
She married Dr. Robert H. Miller, Jr., on June 25, 1955, in Hannibal. He survives.
Mrs. Miller attended Hannibal schools. She graduated from the former Hannibal-LaGrange College and the former Northeast Missouri State College.
She was an elementary school teacher in Webster Groves, MO, and Bellevue, NE. She also taught social studies at Hannibal High School for several years.
She was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma social sorority and was a charter member and past president of Chapter JH P.E.O. She was also a member, Deaconess and Elder at First Presbyterian Church in Hannibal, and she attended Frankford Presbyterian Church in Frankford, MO.
Mrs. Miller was an accomplished poet and served as a judge for numerous literary competitions.
She was a consummate hostess as evidenced by her love of cooking, entertaining and decorating. She had a passion for traveling around the world with her husband and sons. Her greatest joy by far was spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her husband, other survivors include two sons, Robert H. Miller, III, of Quincy, and Mark T. Miller of St. Charles, MO; two grandchildren, Matthew A. Miller and Megan M. Miller, both of St. Charles, MO; a brother, Harold Lynn Thomas and wife Mary, of Evansville, IN; a sister-in-law, Lois M. Thomas, of Disputanta, VA; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Miller is also survived by her beloved caregivers, Denise Drazba and husband Mark, of New London, MO; Jacqueline Holt and husband Jeremy, of Maywood, MO; Brooke Nelson and husband Justin, of Palmyra, MO; and Marian White, of Pleasant Hill, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Lyle E. Thomas; and a daughter-in-law, Janet Suezette Moyers Miller.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home in Quincy. Donald W. Hamilton from Frankford Presbyterian Church will officiate. There will be visitation on Tuesday from 10:30 AM until the time of the services.
A private interment will be held at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.
