Kathleen Ann “Kathy” Cain

Kathleen Ann “Kathy” Cain, age 67, of 818 North 12th St. Quincy died on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 in Blessing Hospital. She was born May 7, 1947 in Quincy; a daughter of Leonard G. “Bud” and Mildred E. (Hagerbaumer) Jansen. She married Robert E. Cain, and together they had their three children.

Kathy was a secretary for many years at the former St. John the Baptist Grade School and Parish. She recently retired as Activities Director at Sycamore Healthcare Centre. Kathy was a 1965 graduate of Notre Dame High School.

Kathy was a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church.

She was a crossing guard at 12th and Spruce for many years. Kathy most enjoyed attending her grandson’s activities and sporting events. She also enjoyed gardening and feeding the birds. Kathy especially loved family gatherings and holidays. With her deteriorating eyesight, she came to enjoy listening to the radio and television.

Survivors include her children, Lori Holtschlag and her husband Jack, Robin Cain and Kevin Cain and his wife Tami all of Quincy.
Six grandsons, Benjamin, Samuel and Simon Holtschlag; Gregory, Cameron “C.J.” and Chandler Cain, all of Quincy.
Brothers and Sisters, Bill Jansen of Quincy; Jeanette Shaffer and husband LaVern of Ursa, IL; Kenneth Jansen and his wife Rosie of Rutledge, MO; Marcia Steinkoenig and husband David; David Jansen and wife Joyce, Richard J. Jansen and wife Ruth all of Quincy; Patricia Feld of Kansas City, KS; Michael Jansen and his wife Donna of Quincy; a brother-in-law Ed Wellman and many nieces, nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Mary Ann Wellman, sister-in-law Patricia “Pat” Jansen, and a brother-in-law John Feld.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church by Fr. Vernon Olmer, O.F.M. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.     Kathy was a wonderful friend and yard buddy always had a smile on her face and loved flowers and her yard. Every day when i go outside im reminded of her. My heartfelt sympathies to her family. Thanks for being a wonderful neighbor

    I am so sorry for your loss. I grew up knowing Kathy when I went to school with her sister, Marcia, and then when we had kids that went to school together. We served on many card party committees together. Our prayers are with you all.
