Katherine S. “Kathy” York
Katherine S. “Kathy” York age 69, of Quincy, died on Wednesday, August 14,
2024, in Blessing Hospital. Kathy was born on May 20, 1955, in Quincy. She was the daughter of Alvin and Lillian (McGrury) Zinn. She married Gary A. York on June 16, 1973, in the Union United Methodist Church. He survives.
Kathy was a homemaker who worked full-time taking care of her husband, Gary, which she did with her whole heart for 51 wonderful years.
She was very creative. Kathy loved to sew, bake, and even make wedding cakes for friends and family. She spent much of her time finding the next project, whether it be woodworking or gardening. Gary would come from work and never knew what project they would do next. Regardless of the task, they worked together and did it with ease. She dearly loved her grandkids and would often take them for shopping trips to Hobby Lobby or the Salvation Army looking for a sale. Kathy looked forward to talking to her best friend of 55 years, Becky. This was apparent even through her final days.
Kathy was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She touched so many lives in her short time here on earth. Her true passion in life was her family. She will be missed more than words can be expressed.
In addition to her husband, Kathy is survived by her children: Adam (Christal)
York and Angela (Eric Davison) York, both of Quincy; grandchildren: Abigail,
Tucker, Brett, Ella, and Dulce; sisters: Jayne Ahern, of Sweden and Mary Vancil
of Quincy. Nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Dennis “Mickey” McGrury.
Kathy’s wishes were to be cremated with no formal services.
Memorials are suggested to the family for final expenses.
Arrangements for cremation are with Duker Haugh Funeral Home and

Gary and Family, I’m really sorry to hear this, my thought’s and Prayers are with you 🙏
Gary, Adam, Angie and the rest of the family. I’m so sorry to hear this. All of us kids growing up thought of her as a second mom and even to this day. She was such a wonderful lady and gave us all such good advice through out the years on whatever troubles we were having. Will definitely miss our long talks in the kitchen. Prayer to all during this difficult time, may she fly high with the angels where she belongs. Love you all
