Karl E. Holtmeyer

Karl Edward Holtmeyer, age 86, of Good Samaritan Home died on Friday, October 8, 2021 in the Home. He was born on May 25, 1935, in Washington, MO, the son of Evert and Ada (Manhart) Holtmeyer. Karl married Darleen (Tudy) Weaver on June 2, 1956 in Washington, MO. The couple recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

Karl graduated from St. Francis Borgia High School in 1953 and attended Rankin Trade School. He began his career at WGEM as an engineer in 1955. He was then one of the founders of KGRC and Great River Communications, where he worked until 1986. Karl then started United Systems in 1986 where he worked until his retirement in 2002.

Karl was a member of the Church of St. Peter. He was also a life-member of the Knights of Columbus.

In addition to his wife Tudy, he is also survived by his children: Lynn (Randy) Ewers, Lori (Pat) Quevillon, Mark (Donna) Holtmeyer, Matt (Barb) Holtmeyer and Julie Davis; 16 grandchildren: Steve (Shawn), Christy and Brian Ewers, Jessica (Matt) Loos, Justin (Brooke) Ebbing, Phil and Audrey Quevillon,
Erica (Jay) Finley, Brad (Makenzie) Holtmeyer, Rachel Holtmeyer, Andrew (Natasha) Holtmeyer, Taylor Holtmeyer, Kyle (Paige) Holtmeyer, Jordyn Holtmeyer, Cory (Denise) Davis and MacKenzie (Matt) Koepke; seventeen great grandchildren; one sister Joan (Don) Hahne. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Karl was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Shirley in infancy, a granddaughter, Elizabeth Ewers in infancy, a nephew, Mike Hahne, a great grandson, Bentley Finley, his mother and father-in-law, Nelson and Irene Weaver and a son-in-law Paul Davis.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. in Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Peter Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church of St. Peter, St. Peter Grade School or Blessing Foundation for Hospice.

    Dear Tudy and family,
    Please accept our condolences on Karl’s passing. At least he is no longer suffering and is in the comforting arms of God. I love the picture in his obituary. You can tell that is Karl immediately. He always had a smile on his face, even when his health was getting worse and he wasn’t feeling well. We pray that God will comfort all of you in your time of sorrow and adjustment., God Bless all of you.
