Karen Kiefer

Karen Kiefer, age 82, of Quincy, IL, passed away on September 3, 2024, in Blessing Hospital. She was born on April 9, 1942, in Quincy, IL, to William “Bud” and Blanche (Lindsay) Klusmeyer. She married James Kiefer on February 25, 1962, in a double wedding with her brother Don Klusmeyer and his wife, Judy. Karen was a member of St. James Lutheran Church.

Karen was a homemaker. At a young age she had a passion for the game of golf, growing up next to Westview Golf Course. That passion brought her many wins in tournaments. She also loved to play at Spring Lake Country Club where her and Jimmy were members. She enjoyed visiting with friends at the restaurant and bar her and Jimmy owned, “Jim’s Family Inn”. Karen enjoyed many adventures to Florida with her mother-in-law, and the most notable trip was to Hawaii with her sister Sherrie.

Karen leaves behind her four children: Bob Kiefer (Tracy), Robin Carlson (Lance), Julie Martin (Donnie) and Jeff Kiefer (Beth).
Grandchildren: Ryan and Jamie Kiefer, Zach Carlson (Courtney), Brianne Carlson, Natalie Scott (Reed), Cody Martin (Taylor), Dylan Martin (Paige).
Great Grandchildren: Adelynn, Paislee, and Owen, Brenlea and Lucy Carlson, Kaden and Westin Martin.
Siblings: Judi McKinney and Diane Prunty and her mother-in-law: Monalee Kiefer.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jimmy, her parents, her father-in-law Elmo Kiefer, brothers, Richard and Don Klusmeyer, sister Cheryl “Sherrie” Killday and a grandson Anthony Carlson.

Private family graveside services are planned at Quincy Memorial Park. Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
