Junior Dell “Jack” Yeakey, Sr.
Junior Dell “Jack” Yeakey, Sr. age 78, of St. Vincent’s Home, formerly of 704 Payson Ave, Quincy, died on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at 5:40 p.m. in the home. Junior was born February 5, 1931 in Keokuk, IA a
son of John and Eva Mae (Neece) Yeakey. He married Violet “Dickie” Lowry on February 6, 1951 in Palmyra, MO and she survives.
Junior was diesel mechanic at Sharkey Transportation for 25 years prior to his retirement. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
In addition to his wife, survivors also include his children,
a son, James Paul Yeakey and his wife Laura of Quincy; two daughters, Vickie Lightle and husband Randy of Springfield, MO ; Donna Clifford and Rick Russell of Ft. Madison, IA; a daughter-in-law Patricia Yeakey of Quincy;
22 Grandchildren, including Penny Laratta who has been a big help to her grandparents, 15 Great-Grandchildren and a sister, Joyce Schmidt of Monmouth, Il also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Junior Dell Yeakey, Jr.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2009
at 11:00 a.m. in Quincy Memorial Park with military honors.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home.
