Judith “Judy” L. Leonard

Judith “Judy” L. Leonard, age 73, of 4806 Elm died on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at 10:15 PM in Bickford Cottage. She was born on July 20, 1939 in Quincy, a daughter of Chester & Helen (Jones) Goodpaster. Judy married Raymond E. Leonard on February 13, 1960 in Quincy. He survives.

Judy attended St. Peter Grade School, and graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1957. She then attended business college in Quincy. She most recently was employed by Two Rivers Regional Council as a Job Training Provider Director. She had previously worked for Bill Stocks Distributing Company in data processing, Knapheide Manufacturing and for Pollock & Ennis Attorneys at Law.

Judy was a member of the Church of St. Peter. Judy’s main devotion was to her family. She was a devout Catholic and a truly spiritual person in the way that she lived her life and treated others, she exemplified the Golden Rule. Judy loved quilting and crocheting, crafts, reading, puzzles, playing Scrabble, and decorating her house.

In addition to her husband, Raymond, survivors include:
ONE SON: Gregory & Teri (McCaughey) Leonard of Washington, IL.
GRANDCHILDREN: Lori (Taften) Kuhl of North Liberty, IA, Kyle Leonard of Springfield, IL., and Kristin Leonard of Washington, IL.
A GREAT GRANDSON: Logan Gregory Kuhl of North Liberty, IA.
EIGHT SISTERS: Emily (Tom) Roberts, Alice Wellman, Helen (Bob) Amburn all of Quincy, Jean (Bob) Dolph of New Lenox, IL., Barbara (Terry) Lewis of Roswell, GA., Sarah Bittorf of Sterling, IL, and Toni (Terry) Tully of Joliet.
Numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews also survive.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Patrick Leonard and brothers-in-law, John Wellman, Norm Yager, Bill Bittorf.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September, 17, 2012 at 10:30 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a funeral mass at 11:00 AM in the Church of St. Peter by Msgr. Leo Enlow. Interment will be in St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 3:00 – 7:00 PM with a parish prayer service at 2:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Quincy Notre Dame or to the Church of St. Peter.

    I just learned of Judy’s passing. I’m just stunned. Judy was a tremendous person, and had a huge impact on me as a mentor. I’m so sorry for your loss.

    I am so sorry! I have been thinking: I want to call Judy. It has been too long since we talked. This is such a shock. Ray you and Judy were such wonderful neighbors. She was special! I feel blessed to have had her for a friend. I will miss her.

    Dear Helen, Alice, and Emily,

    I am so surprised to hear about Judy. I will keep everyone in my prayers. Judy always welcomed me with open arms when Mom was in the hospital in Quincy and I came up. Now she will never know how much i appreciated a place to stay. I will keep you all in my prayers.
