Judith Ann (Judy) Sohn
Judith Ann (Judy) Sohn, age 79, of Quincy, Illinois died Tuesday, October 10, 2023 in Blessing Hospital.
Judy was born March 17th, 1944, in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Victorine Campbell Sherman. She married Joseph (Joe) Sohn, Jr. on August 7th, 1965, in Quincy, Illinois. Joe preceded Judy in death on October 26th, 2021. It brings great comfort to the family knowing that they are together again.
Judy was a 1962 graduate of Quincy Notre Dame and graduated from Quincy College in 1966 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. Judy taught at Webster School, Jefferson School, and Baldwin West before retiring from teaching in 1999. After retiring from teaching, she and Joe ran the White Horse Tavern, an establishment that has been owned by her family for many years.
Judy enjoyed reading, cooking for her family, and fishing, especially the annual trips she took to Wisconsin with her grandsons, where she always claimed to catch the biggest fish. She and Joe enjoyed spending the winter months in Florida.
Judy was of the Catholic faith.
Judy is survived by her daughter, Christina Knight and her husband Todd of Quincy; her grandsons Connor Knight and Cole Knight; one sister Mary Jane Tocco of St. Clair Shores, Michigan; two brothers Tom Sherman (Kathi) of Dixon, IL and Mike Sherman of Naples, Florida; three brothers-in- law Ed (Barb) Sohn, Roger Sohn, and Steven (Donna) Sohn, all of Quincy; six sisters- in-law Doris (Martin) Karhoff, Mary Lou (Dave) Elsie, Alice Waelder, Jane Brown, Marge (Steve) Hilgenbrink all of Quincy, and Kate (Kevin) Specht of Fort Worth, Texas. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives survive.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Norma Farr and Kay Wand and one brother James Sherman.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:30 AM until the time of the services at 11:00 AM. Memorials are suggested to the charity of donor’s choice. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
