Jude Joseph Holthaus
Jude Joseph Holthaus, age 75, of Quincy, died on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 3:25 a.m. in Blessing Hospital. He was born on November 3, 1939 at 823 N. 20th Street in Quincy, a son of Aloysius J. & Rose Mary (Reis) Holthaus. He married Sharon Harding on May 26, 1972 in Quincy. She preceded him in death on September 11, 2011.
Jude was a 1957 graduate of Notre Dame High School where he played on the football team.
He followed in his father’s footsteps as a master craftsman and contractor. He worked at Quincy College for many years.
He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.
Jude was a St. Louis Cardinal fan and enjoyed golfing. He loved his family and friends and spending time on the family porch.
He is survived by children, Kim Cox and her husband Bill and Lisa Garner all of Quincy, Tammy Greene of FL, Chris Holthaus, Troy Holthaus and Steve Bush and his wife Kim, all of Quincy and Vicky Franzen of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Chris) Gosney, Laura (Joe) Starnes, Andrew Cox, Garett Garner, Natalie Taylor, Grace Holthaus, Abbey Holthaus, Brandon (Janette) Otto and Emily & Cole Franzen; great-grandchildren, Liam Starnes, Alexis & Ashton Taylor and Brody Otto; his sisters Jeanette Crawford of Lansdale, PA and Collette (Mike) Haubrich of Quincy. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his wife, Sharon, and his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Jim, Greg, Dan and Robert Holthaus and sisters, Imogene Schoenekase and Geraldine Hollister.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 25, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church by Rev. Don Blaeser, O.F.M. Interment will be in St. Boniface Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at St. Francis Church. Memorials may be made to the Quincy University Chapel or to St. Francis Catholic Church. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
