Joyce A. Gardner

Joyce A. Gardner age 79, of Quincy died on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at 4:58 p.m. in Blessing Hospital.
Joyce was born in Quincy on February 22, 1939 a daughter of Wilton “Ham” and Hazel (Hild) Janssen. She married Robert “Bob” L. Gardner on December 14, 1957 in St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Quincy, and he preceded her in death on January 3, 2015.

Joyce was a 1957 graduate of Quincy Senior High.

She retired after working as a school bus driver for Quincy Public Schools. Joyce and her husband Bob also owned and operated Bob and Sarge’s tavern for many years.

She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ. Joyce loved spending time with her grandchildren and her family.

Survivors include her children, Jackie Mast and her husband Brent of Payson, Jeff Gardner of Quincy; grandchildren, Bria and Jared Gardner of Quincy; Alex and Leah Mast of Payson; her twin sister, Janet Scobee and her husband Tom of Quincy.

Nieces and nephews survive including a niece, Tina Moore and her husband Steve.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a niece, Angie Scobee.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Trinity United Church of Christ by Rev. Timothy White. Visitation will be Thursday morning from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital in Chicago for the Craniofacial/Cleft Dept. or to Trinity United Church of Christ.

    My your loss. Joyce was an awesome person and co-worker. She also was very easy to talk to (even slightly mother hen).

    Janet, Tom & Family….So sorry to hear of Joyce’s passing. I have so many wonderful memories of our QHS days together & happy I got to see Joyce at our 60th Class Reunion last Sept…..she will be dearly missed by all. You have our deepest sympathy.

    I loved working with Joyce as rider on the pre k bus. She was a wonderful woman. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family!
