Joshua John “Josh” Skirvin

Joshua John “Josh” Skirvin, age 30, of 280 E. 2400 ST, Barry , IL, died on Friday, December 31, 2010 in his home. He was born on June 16, 1980 in Quincy, IL the son of Larry & Sally (Marshall) Skirvin. Josh was a heavy equipment operator for Bross Construction Co. Josh was also an accomplished craftsman who manufactured his own wood stove which he sold to many people around the country. He loved being with his family & friends in the outdoors, 4 wheeler riding, being on the river and fishing.

Josh’s greatest love was for his daughter, Jayden Lynn Skirvin.
In addition to his daughter, he is also survived by:
HIS PARENTS: Larry & Sally Skirvin of Barry
A BROTHER: Andy Skirvin and his wife Nikki of Liberty.
A SISTER: Jenna Skirvin of the home.
A SPECIAL NIECE: Bailey Skirvin.
AUNTS & UNCLES: Bruce Marshall and his wife Tammy; Jim Skirvin and his wife Carol, Betty Clark, Bill Skirvin and his wife Ruth Ann, Dorothy Skirvin, Lee Skirvin, Nancy White and her husband Mike, Diana McClelland and her husband Louis and Mike Deege and his wife Donna.
Numerous cousins and other relatives also survive.

Josh was preceded in death by an uncle Brad Marshall and his grandparents.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home in Quincy by Chaplain Richard Martin. Interment will be in the Payson New Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home in Quincy. Memorials may be made to an Educational Fund to be established for Josh’s daughter, Jayden Lynn Skirvin.

    I just learned of Josh’s passing. You have my deepest sympathy. I always enjoyed talking to Josh on the phone when he called. He was a very likeable and special person. I will miss our talks.

    Although I didn’t know Josh, I was friends with his aunt and uncle, Bill & Ruth Ann many years ago. My sincere sympathy to the entire Skirvin family.

    So sorry to hear of your loss. We didn’t know Josh personally, only through your stories, and he sounded like a great guy! Jenna, keep playing with Josh’s little girl and help her remember what her daddy was like as she gets older.
