Joseph Winkelmann
Joseph Patrick Winkelmann, age 83, of Quincy, died on Thursday, August 22, 2019 in Iowa. He was born on March 25, 1936 in St. Louis, MO the son of Clarence Henry and Alyce Marie (Pierce) Winkelmann. Joe was a graduate of Christian Brothers College High School in St. Louis in 1954. He received his Bachelor’s from Washington University St. Louis in 1963. He married Judith May Rogers on November 8, 1958 in Northbrook, IL. She preceded him in death on April 28, 2011. Mr. Winkelmann was a salesman. Over the years he worked for Colgate-Palmolive Company, Porter Paint Company, Kurfees Paint Company, State of Illinois – Emergency Management Agency, Taylor Publishing Company, Brahler’s Tire Company, and The History Shop. He retired in 2013.
Joe was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church. Joe was very active and was a member of the Sertoma Club, Historical Society of Quincy and Adams County, National Park Service Volunteer (Lincoln Home), Washington Theater Commissioner, St. Monica Theater Review Volunteer, Khoury League Coach, Orator Coach, Findley Campaign Volunteer, Member of many Quincy Social Groups. Joe was a voracious reader, avid train collector, active photographer, and life-long St. Louis Cardinals fan.
He is survived by three daughters: Amy Jo Wheatman (Dean) McCordsville, IN; Alisa Rogers Elkins (Shawn) Urbandale, IA; Margaret Winkelmann Moore Lawrenceville, GA.
7 GRANDCHILDREN: Courtney Schweers (Matt), Greg Wheatman (Danie), Brittany Meade (Zack), Davis Elkins (Amanda), Austin Brown (Liz), Hannah Lacy (Taylor), and Emma Moore (Jimmy).

5 nephews and numerous other relatives also survive.
In addition to his wife, Joe was also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: “Sonny” Winkelmann and John Winkelmann.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 30, 2019 at 11:00 AM in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of services at 11:00 AM. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church or to the ‘St. Louis Cardinals Care’ Fund.
Winklelmann family. So sorry tor your loss. Your dad was my softball coach and not only taught me sportsmanship but gave me the love if the game. Coach was a wonderful guy and will surely be missed. I think of him every time i pass your old house. Rest in peace coach. Hugs
So sorry to hear of Joe’s passing. We bought the house on Sugar Creek Lane and moved in 15 years ago today. Many of Joe & Judy’s special touches remain to this day. So sorry for your loss.

I am sorry to have lost a good friend. I met Joe thru the Model Railroad Club in Quincy. He always had a smile on his face. Was always very humble. Always enjoyed a good joke…even if the joke was on him. He will be missed; but now he can go be with his beloved Judy. She was the center of his universe, and he always said so.
My deepest yous loss. I never got to know “Uncle Joe” very well, but I was touched by his kindness and sincerity – he had such a joy about him. He will be missed and fondly remembered.
