Joseph Pillars
Joseph Pillars, age 74, of 1403 College, died on October 15, 2018 in Blessing Hospital. He was born on June 21, 1944 in Sacramento, CA the son of Henry Pillars and Mildred (Cannady) Pillars Kerr. He married Rebecca Louise (Farris) Nell on March 26, 1983. She survives.
Joe worked for Electric Wheel, then later Can Am and then Titan Wheel until his retirement.
Joe was a woodworker and made furniture for his home, his family and many of his friends. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and outdoor activities. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his loving wife, he is also survived by:
THREE CHILDREN: Lisa Griffin of Milton, IL; Cathy Smith and her husband Adam of Utah; and Michelle Mary Pillars of Quincy;
STEP-SONS: Charles Michael Nell (Andrea) of Maywood, MO; and Tracy Dean Nell (Nancy) of Hannibal, MO.
GRANDCHILDREN: Cally Carroll (Ian); Cheyenne Frietag and Samantha Pillars.
STEP-GRANDCHILDREN: Allen Michael Nell; Taylor Renee Nell and her fiancé James Porter; Kyle Dean Nell (Maddy).
GREAT-GRANCHILD: Lynn Noel Carroll
STEP-GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Rilee Ann Porter, Bentlee James Porter and Kynlee Renee Porter.
SIBLINGS: Ray Cortez (Mary); Frank Cortez; Lola Harbin (Tony); Violet Mitchell (Dave); Yolanda Rodriguez (Jose’).
Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many special friends of the family also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Henry Pillars, and Carl Cortez and a sister: Rada Bell Ruby.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 1:30 PM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home from 12:30 until the time of the services at 1:30. Memorials may be made to the New Beginnings Church.

Becky & entire family there are so, so many wonderful memories of Joe. We are missing him so much. He was a super great neighbor. I (JoJo) will miss his competition on grass cutting and shoveling snow (Joe on his 4 wheeler with blade) 🙂 He is in good hands now with the Lord. Love you all & our prayers are with you all.
