Joseph F. Grawe
Joseph F. Grawe age 58, of Quincy, formerly of Liberty, died on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at 1:47 p.m. in North Adams Home. Joe was born March 18, 1959 in Quincy, a son of Eugene & MaryAnn (Mast) Grawe. He married Gail J. Lair on July 29, 1989 in St. Anthony Catholic Church and she survives.
Joe graduated from St. Joseph Seminary in Oak Brook, IL in 1977 as Valedictorian. He worked as an insurance agent for Grawe Insurance Agency, which he bought from his father, Gene. Joe was Secretary of Payson Farmers Mutual Insurance Company for 15 years.
He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Fourth Degree. Joe was a lifelong Cubs baseball fan. He was an outdoorsman who liked hunting, fishing and gardening. Joe supported his kids in their sporting activities, and he loved playing with his grandchildren. Most importantly, he was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.
In addition to his wife Gail, survivors also include: his children, Tyler Grawe and his wife Jenny of Colorado Springs, CO; Jonathan Grawe and his wife Avery of Springfield, IL; Abigail Grawe of Maryland Heights, MO; grandchildren, Barrett, Blakely and Christian Grawe.
His siblings, Lucille Grawe of Quincy; Rita Frericks of Liberty; Ken (Geri) Grawe; Margie Grawe all of Quincy; Roger Grawe of Eau Claire, WI; Tom Grawe of Quincy; Rose Ann Hugenberg of Liberty; JoAnn (Fred) Witte of Quincy; Mary Howald of Center, MO; Dorothy (Bob) Haley of Quincy. His mother-in-law, Margaret Lair of Quincy; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Pamela (Larry) Newell of Norman, OK; Jeffrey (Joni) Lair of Oklahoma City, OK. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law Gideon Lair; brothers-in-law, Paul Frericks and Dan Hugenberg; sisters-in-law, Lynda Grawe and Pat Grawe; three nieces Jacquelin Grawe, Adrianne Grawe, and Katie Hugenberg, a nephew, Timothy Haley and two siblings in infancy.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 10:15 a.m. with a W.C.U. service at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church by Rev. Tom Donovan. Interment will be in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at St. Anthony Church. Memorials are suggested to Blessing Hospice, North Adams Home or St. Anthony Catholic Church.
