Joseph Daniel Cheney, age 40, of 700 ½ North Fifth Street, died on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 in his home. He was born on October 25, 1975 in Quincy the son of Danny and Sharon (Dopheide) Cheney.

Joe was employed at CantonTowing for eleven years , then he was self-employed in roofing and painting houses. Joe loved spending time with his children , family , and friends. He enjoyed mushroom hunting , fishing ,and working on the river. He was a talented artist and shared his drawings with many.

He is survived by his father, Danny Cheney of St. Pete, FL and his mother, Sharon Cheney of Quincy IL . A daughter Alexis Cheney of Hannibal Mo . Two sons and a daughter Root Cheney , River Cheney , and Aspen Cheney of Maywood Mo . A son Liam Cheney of Paloma IL. One brother, Shawn Cheney of Montrose, IA. and one sister, Leonna Cheney of Quincy,IL A grandmother Leona Altgilbers and many Uncles, Aunts , and cousins .

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Bernard Cheney and Dora Cheney; maternal grandfather, Rome Dopheide, Jr.; and a step- grandfather, Richard Altgilbers, Sr.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 13, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. in the Riverside Community Church, where Joe was recently baptized . Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the church. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
