John William “Butch” Busse, Jr.
John William ‘Butch’ Busse, Jr., age 79, of Quincy, died on Thursday, November 4, 2021 in the Illinois Veterans Home. He was born on December 3, 1941 in Quincy, IL the son of John W. and Mildred (Requet) Busse, Sr. He married Antoinette ‘Ann’ Goeppert on April 4, 1964 in St. Francis Catholic Church. She survives.
Immediately after high school, John entered the United States Maine Corps. Upon returning home he worked a short time at Motorola and Gardner-Denver before joining the job of his life time, the Quincy Police Department, working until his retirement in 1996.
He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. John dearly loved his family and enjoyed fishing, camping, shuffleboard, gardening and travel.

SISTER-IN-LAW: Joyce Cobb along with her husband Vernon and BROTHER-IN-LAW: Dr. Thomas Reed.
NEPHEWS: Brian Reed (Mary Jo) and Dr. Brennan Reed (Debbie),
NIECES: Amy (Kurt) Vanderhaar and Heather (Ron) Amos.
John was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law: Mary Reed.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at 11:30 AM in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment in St. Boniface Cemetery with military rites conducted by the United States Marine Honor Detail and the American Legion Post #37 Honor Detail. Pallbearers are Brian Reed, Dr. Brennan Reed and Bill Allen, honorary pallbearer is Jack Kahs. Visitation will be held at St. Francis Catholic Church on Wednesday from 10:30 AM until the time of the services at 11:30. Memorials may be made to the Illinois Veterans Home Activities Fund or to St. Francis Catholic School or the charity of the donor’s choice.
John sure had fun on Halloween, borrowed a pair of hand cuffs so that he got a picture of it, it put a smile on his face. RIP my buddy
