John Edward Wand, age 91, of North Adams Home, Mendon, Illinois, formerly of 6601 Edwards Road, Payson, Illinois died on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at 8:35 p.m. in the Home. He was born on January 25, 1917 in Payson, Illinois. He was a son of Edward W. and Mary (Benz) Wand.

John was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and was a member of Holy Name Society and the Western Catholic Union.

He was a lifelong farmer and raised Red Poll Cattle.

John was very kind and was very generous with his time.

Numerous cousins and other relatives survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Joe Wand.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Anthony Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church on Saturday morning from 9:30 until the time of the services.
Memorials may be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church, North Adams Home or to the St. Anthony Cemetery Fund. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
