John W. Hartman, age 72, of 3827 Tiffany LN, in Quincy, died on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 in the Good Samaritan Home. He was born on March 1, 1945 in Quincy, IL the son of Harold & Virginia (Bergman) Hartman. John was a 1963 graduate of Quincy High School. He married Jody Parsons on April 21, 1972 in Quincy’s former St. Mary Catholic Church. John was a freight train conductor for the Norfolk Southern Railway. He was of the Catholic Faith.

John was a member of the Twin Oaks Club and the Rocky Point Club. He liked to fish, play pool and play cards. He greatly enjoyed the time spent at his farm, “Turkey Run”.

In addition to his wife, John is also survived by:
TWO BROTHERS: Ron Hartman and his wife Sandy of Oswego, IL; and Roger Hartman and his wife Mary of Chatham, IL.
TWO NEPHEWS: Christopher Hartman and David Hartman
ONE NIECE: Mallorie Summers and her husband Jake.

John was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 6, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Calvary Cemetery will take place at a later date. Visitation will be held on Sunday afternoon from 12:00 noon until the time of the services at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or to the Quincy Humane Society.
