John P. Cromie

John P. Cromie, age 81, of Quincy, Il, died on March 18, 2020 in Blessing Hospital. He was born on September 22, 1938 in Roanoke, AL, the son of Arthur and Jessie (Barfield) Cromie. He married Mary Brown in 1961 in Fort Wayne, IN. She preceded him in death in 2002. Mr. Cromie was a machinist at Knapheide Manufacturing. He served in the United States Marine Corps from September of 1955 until February of 1960.

Survivors include Sons: John Cromie (Charro), Brad Cromie (Gabi), Davin Cromie and Jim Cromie (Nancy).
Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, a sister: Mary Faye Ahrens and other relatives survive.

In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by several siblings.

Due to the restrictions for public gathering caused by the COVID-19 epidemic, the funeral services for John will be held at a later date.     I am so sorry John to learn today that you passed away March 2020. I really appreciated your quiet humor and your graciousness towards all of us in the Socrates Cafe group in the Quincy Public Library. We miss you.
