John Lewis Coy

John Lewis Coy age 85, of 418 Washington St. Quincy, Il died on Sunday, October 21, 2012 at 3:30 a.m. in Blessing Hospital. John was born July 21, 1927 in Pasadena, CA a son of Clifford S. and Grace (Tonnes) Coy. He married Violette M. Russ in Reno, NV on August 21, 1954 and she survives.

John was an Aerospace Engineer who worked for Jet Propulsion Labs in California and worked for Boeing 30 years prior to retiring.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1945-1948.

John was a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church.

He was active for many years as a Mason, and with the Boy Scouts of America. John enjoyed Geology and was a member of the Gem and Mineral Society.

In addition to his wife Violette, survivors include his two sons, Chris Coy of Los Angeles, CA and Jeff Coy and his wife Kathy of Quincy; two grandchildren, Stephen and Lauren Coy both of Quincy; a sister, Betty Fluter of Las Vegas, NV and a niece and nephew also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial mass will be held on Friday, October 26, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. in the St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. There is no visitation, but family and friends are invited to the memorial mass. Memorials are suggested to the Blessing Hospital Foundation.
The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
