John “Jake” K. Duner age 73, of 1707 North 12th St. Quincy formerly of Downers Grove, IL died on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 10:25 a.m. in the Illinois Veteran’s Home. Jake was born in Mobile, AL on March 2, 1945 a son of John Charles and Ethel (Gee) Duner.

Jake began his working career working for his family business, and then for many years worked in insurance sales. He served his country in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War. Jake was a talented musician and singer who played guitar and sang in his band called Ironwood.

Survivors include a son, one brother and his dear friends Mary Mason; and her children Dennis (Gretchen) Mason; Doug (Jerrilyn) Mason; Deanna (Darin) Leffringhouse.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his friend Dennis Mason.

Cremation rites will be accorded. Inurnment will take place at a-later-date in Sunset Cemetery at the Illinois Veteran’s Home. Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in-charge of the arrangements.
