John Jack Badamo

John A. “Jack” Badamo, age 88, of the Illinois Veterans Home, Formerly of 2143 Cherry Lane, died on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 in the home. He was born on October 5, 1922 in Quincy, a son of August J. & Otilia (Mast) Badamo. He married Martha E. Thorkildsen. Jack later married Betty L. Miller and she survives.

Jack graduated Quincy College Acadamy in 1940. He served in the United States Air Force during WWII from 1942-1946 and the Korean War from 1950-1951. Jack was a Prudential Insurance agent in the Quincy area for 35 years. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He loved garage sales, auctions, and collecting antique dolls. He also loved feeding his birds and squirrels

In addition to his wife, Betty, he is survived by:
TWO CHILDREN: Danya Wheeler and her husband Charles A., and John M. Badamo and his wife Terri all of Quincy.
FOUR STEP-CHILDREN: Linda Livermore and her husband Mark of Quincy, Roger Miller and his wife Heidi of Las Vegas, NV, Jeanette Nigosanti and her husband Richard of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and Carla Baze and her husband Kevin of Liberty.
EIGHT GRANDCHILDREN: Kristen Eyler and her husband Todd, Erin Angell and her husband Jamie, Jenny Wheeler and her boyfriend Joey Brown, Chuck Wheeler and his wife Amber, Sarah Mueller and her husband Matt, Michael Badamo and his wife Ashley, Matthew Badamo, and Anna Badamo.
STEP GRANDCHILDREN: Quentin Brace and his wife Penny; Casey Brace and her boyfriend Mark Fowler, Jennifer Tomlin and her husband Jason, Amy Pressley and her husband Steve, Rebecca Williamson and her husband Paul, Roger Paul Miller and his wife Adriana, Tyler Miller, Shawn Leffringhouse, Nick Leffringhouse, David Leffringhouse and his wife Liliana, Amanda Maggart and her husband David, Kevin Dean Baze and his wife Stephanie, Kayla Baze.
ELEVEN GREAT GRANDCHILDREN: Lucas Eyler, Elise Eyler, Emma Eyler, Darian Hebel, Jacob Angell, Lydia Wheeler, Abigail Brown, Dylan Brown, Charles Wheeler, Hannah Mueller, and Wyatt Mueller.
STEP GREAT GRANDCHILDREN: Breanna Brace, Carson Brace, Nicholas Fowler, Blake Tomlin, Wilson Tomlin, Michael Tomlin, Evaan Tomlin, Makayla Tomlin, Alex Pressley, Zac Pressley, Jake Pressley, Elijah Williamson, Noah Williamson, Tara Williamson, Luke Williamson, David Williamson, Ashley Williamson, Kayla Williamson, Jordan Miller, Natalie Miller, Roger Lloyd Miller, Juliana Leffringhouse, Logan Maggart and Cameron Maggart, and Kevin Michael Baze
STEP-GREAT-GREAT-GRANDCHILD: Dejalynn Williamson
ONE BROTHER: Joseph Badamo, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 10:30AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a 11:00 AM funeral mass in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church by Msgr. Michael Kuse. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery will military honors conducted by American Legion Post #37. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 PM with a parish prayer service at 4:00 PM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Quincy Notre Dame High School, St. Vincent’s Home or to the Illinois Veterans Home Activities Fund.

    There are many great memories of Jack, and I am sorry for your loss. Sorry I couldn’t be there today to extend my condolences in person, but know that I am thinking about you all. What a delight to see all of the family listed in the obituary.
