John Clemens Frericks

John Clemens Frericks, age 97, of Sunset Apartments, formerly of 5715 Kochs Lane, Quincy, died on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 in Blessing Hospital. He was born on October 26, 1912 in Quincy, Illinois. He was one of thirteen children of Clemens and Clara (Obert) Frericks.

A farmer and former employer of Electric Wheel, he had attended St. Michael School and was a United States Army Veteran of World War II.

He was a long-time member of St. Dominic Catholic Church. He loved farming. John was known for cooking at the former St. Dominic at every church event that he could. He recently became a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.

Survivors include:
THREE SISTERS: Mrs. Dorothy Schutte and Mrs. Virginia Meyer both of Quincy, and Sister Clarita Frericks, Franciscan Sister of the Poor in Cincinnati, OH.
Many nieces and nephews also survive.

John was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, George, Joseph, Fred, Mathias,Anthony, and Eugene Frericks, and three sisters, Agnes Frericks in infancy, Sister Mary Catherine Frericks, and Sister Mary Andrea Frericks.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 7, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church by Rev. Tom Shaughnessy, O.F.M. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with a parish prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus T.V. Mass for Shut-Ins, or the American Cancer Society.

    Dear Frericks Family, Sorry to hear of your loss.God be with you at this time.I remember John and Fritzs when is was young.I would go over there to get hay when I helped Lenny Obert.We used to butcher over at the Zangers also.Many times I wished for those times again.Peace be with you all. kenny cramsey jr.
