JoAnn Ruth (Massingill) Gall born July 14, 1931 in Quincy, passed away peacefully in Sunset Home on Wednesday, March 17, 2021. JoAnn was the daughter of Harry and Georgia (Wright) Massingill. She married Donald E. Gall on July 1, 1956 in Quincy and he survives.

JoAnn was married at a young age to Windell P. Welsh, who passed away (in 1951) shortly after their third child (Danny) was born. She later met and married Don, who became her life-long partner and instant wonderful father to her 3 children. She and Don later also had a son (Mark) completing their family.

During her working career, she worked in several different finance and accounting positions over the years, including as a bookkeeper for Rouse & Brueggeman and Motorola until her retirement, and she was employed by H&R Block during tax seasons.

JoAnn was a life-long member of the Central Baptist Church, she was also a long-time member of the National Button Society, the Illinois State Button Society, and the Iowa State Button Society. She won many ribbons with her beautiful antique buttons at State and National shows, where she and Don were able to travel to various states all across the U.S. each year throughout her life. She was introduced to button-collecting by her mother, Georgia Massingill, who traveled with them to the button shows, and also won many ribbons. This was their passion which also resulted in many treasured friendships and happy memories. She and her mother actually formed the Mississippi Valley Button Club in 1978.

In addition to her loving husband, Donald, survivors include: 4 children, Rikki Welsh and his wife Debbi of Anderson, CA, Vicki (Welsh) Timmerwilke and her husband Marty of Omaha, NE, Danny Welsh of Ft. Worth, TX, Mark Gall and his wife Janet of Quincy and a brother Kent Massingill and his wife Karla of Hurst, TX.

She also has nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Georgia Massingill, and a brother, Steve Massingill.

Services will be conducted Monday, March 22, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Jason Summerfeld. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon – 1:00 p.m. on Monday in the funeral home.
Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Those attending services are asked to please wear a mask and follow social distancing guidelines.
