Joan E. Francis

Joan E. Francis, age 73, of 500 Maine St., died on Thursday, February 2, 2017 in Blessing Hospital. She was born on June 20, 1943 in Louisiana, MO, the daughter of Robert K. & Mary Etta (Perkins) Edwards. She married Charles Francis on August 14, 1959. He preceded her in death on December 11, 1998. Joan was a long-time cook at Sprout’s Inn. She was of the Christian Faith.

She enjoyed bowling, singing Karoake, crocheting and crafts. She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She never knew a stranger and was a kind loving person.

She is survived by:
FIVE CHILDREN: Mary Ann Burton of Quincy; Kay Bradley of Quincy; Lori Wegs and her husband Steve of Quincy; Joyce Emerick and her husband Guy of Golden, IL; and Michael Francis and his wife Theresa of Quincy.
STEP-SON: Chuck Francis and his wife Janet of Bowling Green, MO
GRANDCHILDREN: Shawn Straube; Brandi Nixon and her husband Perry; Joanna Burton; Brittany Hunolt; Ronnie Gordon and his wife Kristen; Ricky Francis; Timothy “TJ” Clarkson; Jesse Wegs; Corey Emerick and his wife Brittney; Shelby Emerick; Kristin Taber; Joseph Francis; Tina Lamasney and her husband Steve; DeWayne Francis and his wife Heather; Cindy Orf and her husband Jason and 25 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild.
ONE BROTHER: Robert Edwards and his wife Theresa
TWO SISTERS: Barb Surgeon and Lorraine Sapp
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

In addition to her husband, she is also preceded in death by her parents, and two sons: Kenny and Leon Francis

Graveside services will be held on Monday, February 6, 2017 at 10:00 AM in Sunset Cemetery of the Illinois Veterans Home. There is no visitation but friends are invited to the graveside services. Memorials may be made to the family. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
