Jimmie DeWitt

Jimmie DeWitt, age 80, of 1523 Chestnut, Quincy, died on Thursday, March 27, 2014 in Blessing Hospital Emergency Room. He was born on December 11, 1933 in Roseville, IL the son of Jim & Nellie (Mounds) DeWitt. He married Norma Patterson on December 17, 1977. She survives.

Jimmie worked at Central Welding Supply and later S.J. Smith for over 50 years until his retirement. He served in the United States Army. Jimmie liked to hunt and fish. He greatly enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by:
THREE CHILDREN: Nick DeWitt, Jamie DeWitt and Vince DeWitt
TWO STEP-CHILDREN; Clarissa Nebe and Melissa Shoop and her husband Jerry
Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. in Greenmount Cemetery. There is no visitation but friends are invited to the graveside services. Floral arrangements or memorial contributions may be sent in care of the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

    Hello, I worked with Jim back in the early 60’s at Guessfield Welding Supply, he was a great guy to work with. I’m sure he will be missed buy his family. We will be thinking of you.
