Jessie L. Mowen
Jessie L. Mowen, age 88, of Liberty, IL, died on Sunday, April 13, 2014 in the Liberty Village in Pittsfield. He was born on March 24, 1926 in Clayton, IL the son of Will and Anna (Vonholt) Mowen. He married Rita Zanger on May 2, 1953 in St. Brigid Catholic Church. She survives. Mr. Mowen farmed his entire life. He was a member of St. Brigid Catholic Church.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Mowen is also survived by:
FOUR CHILDREN: Bill Mowen and his wife Brenda of Payson, IL; Judy Rees of St. Joseph, MO; David Mowen and his wife LouAnn of Liberty; and Debbie Byrd and her significant other Tom Hill of Pleasant Hill.
TWELVE GRANDCHILDREN: Mackenzie Mowen, Lindsay Mowen, and Evan Mowen; Jessica Rees and Jeremy Rees and his wife Tiffany; Kelly Baucom and her husband John; Justin Mowen and Danielle Bunte and her husband Ross; Megan Flores and her husband JP; Josh Benjamin and his wife Daisy; Jared Benjamin and Maci Benjamin.
EIGHT GREAT GRANDCHILDREN: Bentleigh and Brooklyn Rees; Carson Baucom; Anthony, Austin, Leiliana, and Landen Benjamin and Amaya Flores.
A BROTHER: Donald Mowen and his wife Connie
A SISTER: Betty Graham and her husband Homer.
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Lyle Mowen, five brothers: Elmer, Wayne, Bob, Harold and Omer Mowen and three sisters: Gladys Deeter, Mildred Doyle and Dorothy Mowen.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday evening, April 16, 2014 at 7:00 PM at St. Brigid Catholic Church in Liberty. Visitation will be held at St. Brigid Catholic Church in Liberty on Wednesday from 4:00 until the time of the services at 7:00. Interment will be held on Thursday, April 17 at 11:00 AM at St. Brigid Cemetery in Liberty. Memorials may be made to St. Brigid Catholic Church or to the Unity Pointe Hospice. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
