Jesse W. “Johnse” Adair

Jesse W. “Johnse” Adair, of Ursa, went to be with his Lord and Angels on December 2, 2016 at North Adams Home, Mendon, IL.

Jesse attended Fawbush School near Lima, IL. He then attended 3 years at Lima High School and graduated from Mendon Township High School in 1940. He served in the US Navy aboard the USS Brennan.

On April 3, 1948, he married Rozella “Rosie” Kuntz at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. They farmed together in the Ursa bottoms and were soulmates for 68 years. She preceded him in death on June 16, 2016.

Jesse is past Levy Commissioner for Ursa Indian Grave Drainage District and past member of the Knights of Columbus and Moose Club in Quincy. He was a member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Mendon, IL.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a kind and generous man who was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Jesse is survived by a daughter Marla (Bruce) Merideth of Mendon, IL; a granddaughter, Dr. Emily Hadsall, DC, of St. Charles, MO and a son-in-law Randy (Crystal) Clair of Loraine. A brother Carl (Alice) Adair of Quincy and a sister Doris Cornwell of Mendon and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a son Greg Adair and his family.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Anita Clair, a brother Leo Adair and sisters Marjorie Hurley, Ruth Andrew and Mildred Reiter Downs.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Edward’s Church in Mendon. Interment will be in New Providence Cemetery in Ursa, IL. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the North Adams Home.

The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
