Jesse James Crabtree, Jr.
Jesse James Crabtree, Jr., age 87, of LaGrange, MO, died on Thursday, July 28, 2011 in Blessing Hospital. He was born on January 18, 1924 in West Quincy, MO the son of Jesse James & Susie (Sinclair) Crabtee, Sr. He married Betty Dopheide in June of 1948. She survives.
Mr. Crabtree was a 30 year career veteran of the United States Military having served 7 years in the United States Navy and 23 years in the United States Army. He entered the service in 1941 and served aboard the USS Nevada. He was a Pearl Harbor Survivor. Mr. Crabtree also served a tour in Korea and three tours in Vietnam. After returning from service, Mr. Crabtree was a graduate of the Gem City College in 1974 and later became an instructor at the College. He was the owner of JC Jewelers and also owned a Conoco Gas Station. Mr. Crabtree was a member of the Quincy Consistory, the Moose Lodge and the Elks. He was also a member of the VFW.

A DAUGHTER IN LAW: Linda Crabtree of Springfield, IL
Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives including his sister-in-law: Marjorie Crabtree also survive.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Crabtree was also preceded in death by a son: Rev. John Crabtree, a granddaughter: Cheryl Smith, 3 brothers: Arthur Elder, Orin Elder and Harvey Crabtree and a sister: Susie Mitchell.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at 1:00 PM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home by Pastor Keith Garner. Interment in Greenmount Cemetery with military rites conducted at the cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 12:00 noon until the time of the services at the funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association of Adams County.
