Jerry Joseph Barger, Sr.

Jerry Joseph Barger, Sr. age 63, of 216 E. Ross Street Palmyra, MO died on Friday, October 28, 2016 at 4:21 p.m. in his home. Jerry was born September 4, 1953 in Quincy, a son of Virgil and Mary Louise (Blickhan) Barger. He married Cheryl Murry on April 8, 1972 in Quincy’s Salem United Church of Christ, and she survives.
Jerry was a welder at Knapheide manufacturing until his retirement. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. & he was of the Catholic faith.
His pastimes included hunting, fishing and working on cars. Survivors include his wife, Cheryl; three sons, Jerry (Lacy) Barger, Jr. of Hannibal, MO; Charles Barger of Palmyra, MO; Bryan (Amber) Barger of St. Charles, MO; Sisters and a brother, Connie (Earl) Mason of Clayton, IL; Jim (Sharon) Barger of Quincy and Dotty Koehler also of Quincy.
12 Grandchildren, Dylan, Nathan and Cody Barger; Kristopher Tharp; Gaven, Jaydyn, Preston, Amaris, Elijah, Brandon, Caleb and Colten Barger.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, John Barger, two nephews, Gene Mason and Grover Thomas, III; and a brother-in-law Wilbert Koehler.
Memorial graveside services will be held on Friday, November 4, 2016 at 12:00 noon, at Greenmount Cemetery with military honors. There is no visitation but family & friends are invited to the graveside services. Memorials are suggested to Cheryl Barger, for a memorial fund.
