Jerry “Dutch” R. Huner
Jerry “Dutch” R. Huner, age 80, of Quincy, died on Friday, December 7, 2018 in Blessing Hospital. He was born on January 15, 1938 in Quincy the son of Grover Cleveland Huner and Eva Helena (Hammer) Huner. He married Marilyn Knowles on May 8, 1959 in Quincy. She preceded him in death on December 25, 2016.
Dutch graduated from Quincy High School. He was employed at the Illinois Veterans Home until his retirement in 2002. He was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ.
Dutch was a hunter and fisherman and enjoyed an occasional cigar. He loved watching his favorite baseball team, the Chicago Cubs and watching his great grandchildren play ball and mostly spending time with family.
Dutch is survived by:
A SON: Kevin Huner of Quincy;
A DAUGHTER: Devin Huner also of Quincy;
THREE GRANDCHILDREN: Nora Huner of Overland Park, KS, Kory and his wife Kathy Huner, and Nolan Huner all of Quincy;
THREE GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Kamden Huner, Karson Huner and Kenleigh Huner;
TWO BROTHERS: Jack (Joann) Huner and Ed (Charlotte) Huner all of Quincy;
FIVE SISTERS: Melba Agard of Quincy, Phyllis Tolliver of Maywood, MO, Lou McGlaughlin of Quincy, Pat Fleer of Lewiston, MO, and Kay (Stanley) Seals of Maywood, MO
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
In addition to his wife, Dutch was also preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Cleve Huner and Wayne Huner, sisters, Eula (Cookie) Niekamp, Oneta Burner and Irma Kansteiner and one grandson, Ethan Huner.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 10, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, 12:00 noon – 1:00 p.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Salem Church Ladies Evening Guilds.
