Jerome Lee “Jerry” Klitz

Jerome Lee “Jerry” Klitz, age 63, of the Illinois Veterans Home, died on Saturday, February 22, 2014 in the Illinois Veterans Home. He was born on February 13, 1951 in Quincy, IL the son of Wilbert & Elenore (Bohne) Klitz. Jerry was a graduate of Quincy Senior High School and a graduate of both Lincoln Land College and Quincy College. He served in the United States Army 82nd Airborne during the Vietnam War from 1971 until 1972. He was of the Catholic faith. Mr. Klitz worked in sales in the Quincy area. He was a member of the Plainville Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by:
THREE CHILDREN: Josh Klitz and his wife Carrie of Quincy; Breanne Strepina and her husband Scott of Tampa, FL and Emily Klitz and significant partner John Renier of Ursa, IL.
SIX GRANDCHILDREN: Jackson, Daxton, and Carson Klitz, Brennan and Finnegan Strepina and Kason Renier.
THREE BROTHERS: Tom Klitz and his wife Krista, Joe Klitz and Ted Klitz
THREE SISTERS: Annette Lupo and her husband Phil, Ruth Rogers and Yvonne Klitz.
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister: Donna Ahern.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 28, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Sunset Cemetery with military rites conducted at the cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Masonic Service held at 7:00 PM. Memorials may be made to the Illinois Veterans Home Activites Fund or to the Alzheimer Association of Adams County.
