Jennie “Lou” Vogel
Jennie “Lou” Vogel, age 69, of 622 Hamilton Ave., died on October 10, 2010 in North Adams Home after a short but courageous battle with cancer. She was born on January 18, 1941 in Hannibal, MO, the daughter of Harold Vernon & Nova May (Ewing) George. She married James A. Vogel on July 27, 1957 in St. Brigid Catholic Church in Liberty, IL. He survives.
Mrs. Vogel was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.
Mrs. Vogel retired from the Quincy Medical Group having been a doctor’s assistant for many years.
Mrs. Vogel served on the board and coached at St. Dominc Catholic School. She also served on the boards of Quincy Notre Dame and the Catholic Youth Organization where she is also in the CYO Hall of Fame. Lou was also a member of numerous groups at St. Anthony’s including the Lady’s Society, the Quilter’s club, and the Prayer Shawl Ministries. She was also a die hard Cub fan.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by:
FOUR DAUGHTERS: Julia Parrish and her husband Larry of Quincy; Janice Vogel of Quincy; Jill Wellman and her husband Andy of St. Charles, IL and Jamie Klingele and her husband Keith of Liberty, IL.
EIGHT GRANDCHILDREN: Zachary Parrish, Ryan Zanger, Lindsay Zanger, Nicholas Wellman, Brooke Wellman, Cortney Klingele, Skylar Klingele and Aden Klingele.
ONE GREAT-GRANCHILD: Kieyran Zanger
Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at 9:45 in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:30 in St. Anthony Catholic Church. Interment in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 PM with a Parish Prayer service at 6:30 PM. Memorials may be made to the Catholic Youth Organization or to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice.

Lou was loved by so many. I have many fond memories of her, especially her loyalty to Quincy Notre Dame and girls sports. She was always there for any of us girls who needed something. She will be missed.
