Jeanne Marie Behrensmeyer-Harroun

Jeanne Marie Behrensmeyer-Harroun, 61, formerly of Quincy, died Sunday (July 6, 2014) in her home in Watseka. She was born May 28, 1953, in Quincy, to Raymond Behrensmeyer and Kathryn Terwelp.

Jeanne was a graduate of Notre Dame High School and Quincy College.
She married Michael Harroun on Oct. 10, 1981, in Onarga. They had two sons, Benjamin and William Harroun.

Jeanne was a teacher for 20 years around the area of Watseka. She enjoyed teaching children. She also enjoyed collecting all kinds of things. Jeanne also enjoyed cooking and learning about different medical conditions. Her sons were her greatest treasure.

Surviving are her sons, Benjamin and William Harroun of Onarga, as well as her ex-husband, Michael Harroun of Onarga. Also surviving are four brothers, Michael Behrensmeyer of Flower Mound, Texas, Robert Behrensmeyer of Mount Vernon, Ohio, James Behrensmeyer of Rockford and Andrew Behrensmeyer of Quincy; a sister, Julia Goerlich of Quincy; one great-niece; one great-nephew and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Kathryn Terwelp Behrensmeyer; her father, Raymond Behrensmeyer; her grandparents, Edith Behrensmeyer, Harvey and Hortence Behrensmeyer, William and Elizabeth Terwelp; two aunts, Lue Fundake and Milly Zenhle, and one uncle, Milton Dietrich.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 16 in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church at 1119 S. Seventh, Quincy. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery at 1730 N. 18th, Quincy.
VISITATION: 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday in the church.
MEMORIALS: American Cancer Society, Quincy Animal Shelter or to the family.

    I was one if Jeanne’s former grade school students from St Martin of Tours in Kankakee. i was one of the few students at her wedding. I have wondered for a long time off and on how her life has been, since we lost contact many years ago, and have had very few mutual contacts over the years.
    You have my deepest sympathy. She was a favorite teacher and librarian from my junior high years.
