Jeanette L. Winston

Jeanette L. Winston, age 89, of Quincy, died on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 in her home. She was born on December 31, 1923 in Quincy, a daughter of Gilbert & Malinda (Lawrence) Wismann. She married James M. Winston on July 4, 1953 in St. Francis Catholic Church. He survives. Prior to marriage, Jeanette worked at Moorman Manufacturing. Once she had a family, she devoted herself to being a homemaker. When her children were older, she worked part- time at Hardees.

Mrs. Winston was a lifelong member of St. Francis Catholic Church, and served as president of the Ladies of St. Francis. She and her husband were members of the Silver Dollar Square Dance Club. Jeanette enjoyed painting custom Christmas ornaments, quilting, sewing & playing cards.
In addition to her husband, James, she is survived by: five children, Alan
Winston and his wife Helen of Springfield, IL; Ruth Jansen and her husband Richard; James G. Winston and his wife Cindy; Kathy Coy and her husband Jeff; and Jeaneen Bradley, all of Quincy, thirteen grandchildren, Michelle (David) Davelaar; Teresa Dobson; Janelle (Brian) Higgins; Keith (Teresa) Jansen; Sarah Jansen; Nathan Jansen; Alyssa (Matt) Lester; Ashley (Shannon) Granger; Andrea Winston; Stephen Coy; Lauren Coy; Megan (Chase) Main; and George Bradley, three great-grandchildren, Ryan Davelaar; Ainsley Davelaar; Jameson Lester, and one sister, Marian (Robert) Gower of Seneca, SC. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Lawrence Wismann, and three sisters, Alice Druffel; Helen Beatty; and Dolores Grawe.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to BlessingFoundation for Hospice, St. Francis Catholic Church or to Quincy Notre Dame Band.
