Jeanette Alice Wensing
Mrs. Jeanette “Jay” A. Wensing age 89, of 920 Summit Dr. Quincy, died on Friday, January 30, 2015 at 7:45 p.m. in her home. She was born September 10, 1925 in Quincy, a daughter of Edwin & Margaret (Vosse) Meise. Jay married Francis M. Wensing on September 9, 1950 in Quincy’s St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on June 28, 2009.
A graduate of Quincy Notre Dame High School, Mrs. Wensing began her working career at Moorman Manufacturing, where she worked 12 years in the Accounting Department. She went on to work at Electric Wheel for two years, while teaching kindergarten at St. Rose School. She worked two years at Lohman’s Accounting Services as a receptionist, and then took tax courses through Culver Stockton College and H & R Block. She then spent four years as an income tax preparer at Lohman’s, from where she retired.
After her retirement, she sold Avon for two years, and she and her husband enjoyed traveling and boating together. Mrs. Wensing was a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, until their closing. She was currently a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. She was a member of the K of C. Auxiliary, the Ladies of St. Francis and the Rosary Club.
Mrs. Wensing’s survivors include: Debbie Bryant and her fiancé Craig Pierceall of Quincy; and Laurie Protsman and her husband Ronnie of LaGrange, MO; a sister, Jackie Mahair; sisters-in-law, Marion Wensing and Patricia Wensing all of Quincy; and Rosemary Wensing of Florida; and a brother-in-law, Jack Terford of Quincy. Ten grandchildren: Michael Hagerbaumer, Nicole Klossing, Jennifer Pillars, Jeffrey Hagerbaumer, Matthew Hagerbaumer, Chad Wensing, Amanda Hills and Julie Cheney all of Quincy; Joey and Brian Protsman both of Savannah, GA. 15 Great-Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, John Meise, and four brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church by the Rev. Duc Pham, O.F.M. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to Unity Point Hospice or to St. Francis Catholic Church.
