Jay Parrick

Jay Parrick, age 72, of Mt. Juliet, TN, formerly of Hannibal, MO died, after a long battle with cancer, on Thursday, June 9, 2016 in his home. He was born on January 3, 1944 in Loraine, IL the son of Earl J. & Bernice (Morss) Parrick. He married Ardyth Schwanke on July 25, 1965 in Quincy, IL. She survives.

Jay and Ardyth owned several businesses during his lifetime. In 1977, they joined Jay’s father in a real estate business, both becoming licensed real estate brokers for the states of IL and MO. They were also members of the Quincy MLS. His next venture, Parrick Auto Sales, kept him busy rebuilding and selling salvage vehicles. With no guarantees of success, Jay’s entrepreneurial spirit continued when, in 1987, he purchased a rubber recycling business from a close friend. Jay was always questioning how ordinary things can be made better or improved, and designed a dust collection system to enhance operation. This was a huge achievement, and allowed Jay and Ardyth to expand and grow Pac-A-Way, over the next 20 years, into a successful enterprise. His most recent business was Midway Mobile and RV Park in Springtown, TX. Jay retired in May of 2015. Jay was a graduate of Loraine Elementary and Quincy Senior High School. He had also attended Sunnydale Christian Academy. He attended Andrews University in Berrien Springs, MI, Union College in Lincoln, NE and also Gem City Business School. Jay was a member of the Quincy Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Jay loved to help people, and never knew a stranger. He was a jack of all trades, and could build or fix almost anything. He loved to share the gospel, sing and play the guitar. Jay was a member of two bands, Rod and the Satellites (1960’s) and The Country Wrangler’s (1980’s). Jay was very passionate about living and teaching a healthy lifestyle. He also greatly loved his family vacations, motorcycle riding and antique cars. One of his favorite past times / obsession was watching Fox News. He would’ve liked to encourage all of you to vote for TRUMP!!

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by:
FOUR CHILDREN: Angela Seats of Hannibal, MO; Brenda Peterson and her husband Randy of Cleburne, TX; Christina Forster of Mt. Juliet, TN; and Kevin Parrick and his wife Karen also of Mt. Juliet, TN.
ELEVEN GRANDCHILDREN: Celeena Seats, Kora Seats, Zoe Seats, Trey Seats, Kaitlin Peterson, Alyssa Peterson, Matthew Peterson, Brandon Forster, Trenton Forster, Mason Parrick and Ripley Parrick.
THREE SISTERS: Stella Randolph of Madison, MO: Thelma Howell and Dorothy Hankins, both of Quincy IL.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents and a sister: Lois Lassen.

Thoughts and Prayers with the family as you say goodby to our beloved Jay Parrick. We can not be with you in person – but will be thinking of you all. Paul and I will treasure the times we’ve spent together and especially the special weekend in FL this winter.
