Jason Ohnemus
Jason Albert Ohnemus, age 38, of Rockford, IL, formerly of Fowler, IL, died on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at his home in Rockford. He was born on October 13, 1978, a son of James L. and Ann L. (Niewohner) Ohnemus.
Jason graduated from Liberty High School in 1996 and from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2000 with a degree in Electrical Engineering.
He worked for United Technologies Aerospace Systems formerly known as Hamilton Sundstrand for 16 years in Rockford. He was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church in Rockford, IL.
Jason enjoyed trap-shooting, fishing and beating his Uncle Greg Knapp playing Uno. He also enjoyed viewing the planets and stars through his telescope and coming home to work on the family farm.
He is survived by his parents James and Ann of Fowler, IL; four brothers, Scott (Angie) Ohnemus of Streamwood, IL; Michael (Laura) Ohnemus of Camp Point, IL; Steve Ohnemus of Fowler, IL; and Robert (Hillery) Ohnemus of Hickory, KY; one sister Sarah (Kirk) Venvertloth of Coatsburg, IL.
Five nieces and two nephews, Tiffany and Katelyn Ohnemus of Streamwood, IL; Madelyn and Lane Ohnemus of Camp Point, IL; Ella, Grace and James Venertloh of Coatsburg, IL.
Three uncles, Duane (Konnie) Collett of St. Charles, MO; Gregg Knapp of Clayton, IL; Terry (Barb) Niewohner of Quincy, IL and one aunt Kristin Niewohner-Powell of Quincy, IL. Numerous cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leonard and Mabel Ohnemus, Virgil and Betty Niewohner and his aunts Jeanette Knapp and Mary Collett.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 12, 2016 at 9:45 a.m.in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1435 E. 1500th, Quincy, IL. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 11, 2016 from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Rita Catholic Church, 6284 Valley Knoll Drive, Rockford, IL 61109 or to the St. Joseph Catholic Church or St. Joseph Cemetery Fund. I am sorry to hear of Jason’s passing. My thoughts and prayers to your family during this difficult time.
Jason and I had a long working history as circuit designers. Though we are still young, we are always like old timers who like to go back to basics and pick on one another. We also were blessed to be able to work with best of the best engineers. We always run it by each other and point out things to make it better even after I moved to AZ early this year. I had been wondering why he had been offline and I got this terrible news of his passing from our mentor, Jim Clemmons. My heart goes out to his families. I know he’d be missed and a lot of his contributions at UTAS will live on. I’d miss you buddy..
It is with a heavy heart that I try to convey my heartfelt sympathies on Jason’s passing. Jason was a very special person and all who were lucky enough to know him are better people. I especially feel blessed to have had the honor of being one of Jason’s teachers at Liberty High School. Jason’s entire family is in my thoughts and prayers.

My deepest Condolences to Jason’s family. He is a wonderful guy. Easy to work with him at office. Very good thinker and filled with lot of ideas at work. There is no day without working with him at office. We used to walk and had long conversation on variety of topics including telescope and moon captures. I am shocked and could not believe it. No one in Hamilton believe it too.
It’s a great loss for all of us.

I was shocked to hear of this sad news. Such a young guy who’s life was cut short.
I worked with him on and off through the years at Sundstrand and appreciated his knowledge, sincerity, commitment to doing things right and to getting them done as and when promised. His subtle wit and sarcasm kept things on a lighter note which helped to get through difficult times and situations.
Rest easy Jason. You are remembered well and will be missed greatly.

So sorry for your loss, we are all shocked to say the least. Always remember his quietness, but when he said something it was either extremely funny or extremely smart.
My Deepest Condolences to Jason’s family. Jason was awesome to work with and always kept me laughing with his subtle sarcasm. He was incredibly smart and kind. I always looked forward to talking with him. I usually joked with him about he getting a house because he had a girlfriend that he didn’t want us to know about. He said that his family had that job covered. Oh Jason, I am so sadden and could not believe the news. Rest Easy and say hello to Dave Fox for me!
This came as a complete shock to me. I worked with Jason since he started at Hamilton Sundstrand. He was my friend. We shot on the same trap team and Winter camped. My heart goes out to his parents and brothers. If I can help in any way, please let me know.
Jason was one of the sweetest people I have ever met. His quick wit and laid back personality will be missed. His dedication to his job were paramount. I remember him working on a database at home for weeks on end to make sure it worked and came to fruition. I consider him one of the most intelligent people I have met, yet he was so humble.
He will be missed terribly. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. May God envelope you with his comforting arms through this time.
