Janet Marie Gall

Janet “Jan” Marie Gall, age 61, of Quincy, left us to join our Savior in Heaven on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021, in Blessing Hospital. Janet was born in Quincy on August 25, 1960, a daughter of Lavain “L.C.” and Dorothy Jean (Baker) Current. She married Mark D. Gall on March 20, 1995, in Monticello, MO and he survives.

Janet held various jobs during her working career, but the work she was most passionate about involved helping others. Especially when she worked in Kansas City with special needs individuals, and later at Transitions and most recently at Blessing Hospital. She was a graduate of Quincy High School and went on to receive her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Western Illinois University.

Her Christian faith meant so much to her, as did seeing her children accept Jesus Christ. Being a Mother was Janet’s number one favorite thing, and she had many who called her “Mom” in addition to her children. She was attuned to others, and she desired to put their needs first. Janet was always ready to go thrift shopping and to garage sales. She loved playing games with her family and friends. The joy of creating and crafting gifts with her daughter, Nina Marie, inspired her to plan for what she hoped would one day be her own business.

In addition to her husband Mark, survivors include her two children, Frederic and Nina Marie Gall both of Quincy. Her four sisters, Linda (“Chuck”) DeVerger of Quincy; Debbie Current of Canton, MO; Wanda Plawer of Fithian, IL; Nina Kyler of Granger, IA, and one brother. Her father-in-law Don Gall of Quincy; her grand dog, Izzy; cousins, nieces, and nephews, including a niece who was like a sister to her, Robyn Willing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her mother-in-law JoAnn Gall, and a brother-in-law Brian R. Plawer.

Memorial services are planned for Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Gall Family. Messages of sympathy may be shared online at www.dukerandhaugh.com

Aunt Jan was an amazing women and so kind. When we were younger at every sleepover or birthday party she’d always make sure we had the time of our life with games and crafts. Prays and love sent to Mark, Frederic and Nina ❤️
