Janet Lee Oberling

Janet L. Oberling, age 69, of Quincy, died on Friday, January 29, 2016 in her home. Janet was born August 20, 1946 in Quincy, a daughter of Ben Leonard and Irma Ellen (McClain) Welper.
She married Robert “Bob” D. Oberling on February 20, 1980, and he survives. Janet was a hairstylist for many years. She was a 1964 graduate of Quincy High School and a graduate of the Sassoon Beauty College in Chicago.

Janet was very talented artistically, she was a terrific cook and a fun-loving person. She enjoyed playing golf, singing karaoke and traveling. She loved her animals dearly.

In addition to her husband Bob, survivors also include her mother, Irma Welper of Mattoon, IL; a daughter Wendy Jo Morris and her husband Erik of Las Vegas, NV; her sisters, Joyce Marshaus and her husband Larry of Mattoon; Judy Bjurstrom and her husband Ron and Trudy Johnson and her husband Mark; a niece, Nikki Sparrow of Lake Ozark, MO and half-brother, Bing Welper and his wife Bev of Quincy along with their children, Victor, Kelley, Terrie and Cobi.

Janet was preceded in death by her father, Ben Welper, and a son, Chad Travis Wear.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home by Pastor Steve Disseler. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Quincy Humane Society. www.dukerandhaugh.com

    Bob, Wendy and Eric I am sorry for your loss. Janet was always so full of life and I’m glad she is at peace. Wendy I love you and you are the best friend a person could ever ask for. If you need anything I’m here.
