Janet ‘Kay” Tushaus
Janet “Kay” Tushaus, age 82, of 435 West Fairway Dr., Quincy, died on Sunday, November 19, 2017 in the Good Samaritan Home. She was born on July 12, 1935 in Quincy, Illinois the daughter of Eldon and Bernice (Hoelscher) Florey. She was a 1953 graduate of Quincy High School. She married Thomas “Tom” Tushaus on December 26, 1955. He survives.
Kay was a long-time member of Spring Lake Country Club and the Women’s City Club. She was a member of the Elks Club. Kay was an avid Bridge Player. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Florida and the Lake of the Ozarks. Kay also liked reading, bowling and shopping. Kay loved the time spent with grandkids and great-grandkids.

ONE SON: Thomas Kevin Tushaus of Ursa, IL
THREE GRANDCHLDREN: Elizabeth VanLeeuwen and her husband Thad of Kansas City, MO; Kelly Bell and her husband Al of Kirkwood, MO; and Ryan Frericks and his significant other Megan Sorrill of Quincy, IL.
FIVE GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Abigail and Garrett VanLeeuwen; Jonah Bell; Wyatt Sorrill and Jackson Frericks.
ONE BROTHER: Dan Florey and his wife Janis
ONE SISTER: Sue Bergman and her husband Bill.
Numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Terri Lynn Frericks, a brother: Bill Florey and three sisters: Sally Florey, Linda Garrison, and Marilyn VanBlair.
Per Kay’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and no formal services are planned. Memorials may be made to the Terri Frericks Scholarship at Quincy Notre Dame. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
