James W. Hilgenbrinck
James W. Hilgenbrinck, age 68 of 2261 East 1100th ST., Mendon, IL 62351, formerly of 1301 Spring Lake Road, died on Thursday, August 18, 2011 in the North Adams Home after courageously battling Huntington’s Disease for more than 20 years. He was born on March 5, 1943 in Quincy, the son of Paul & Elsie (Boge) Hilgenbrinck. He married Barbara J. Maas on November 30, 1963 in St. Anthony Catholic Church. She survives. Mr. Hilgenbrinck retired from Moorman Manufacturing/ADM after 32 years of service in the Maintenance Department. James was a member of the Church of St. Peter. He enjoyed farming and his grandchildren. James also participated in the Huntington Disease Support Group, a disease that numerous members of the Hilgenbrinck family have battled.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by:
TWO CHILDREN: Patricia Ann Purcell and her husband Timothy Rudd of Quincy and Gary W. Hilgenbrinck and his wife Cathy also of Quincy.
FIVE GRANDCHILDREN: Kristin Schutte and her husband Kyle, Kaleb Purcell, Bryce Pool, Nicole Hilgenbrinck and Hunter Hilgenbrinck.
TWO GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Eastyn Schutte and Coltyn Schutte.
ONE SISTER: Alvera Hilgenbrinck
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
In addition to his parents, James was also preceded in death by a brother: Carl Hilgenbrinck in infancy and a sister: Ruth Ann Bohne.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 22, 2011 at 9:30 in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and a funeral mass at 10:00 Am in the Church of St. Peter. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 with a prayer service at 6:00. Memorials may be made to the Illinois Huntington Disease Society.
Love and miss you Grandpa. I think of you every day. I can only hope that I can be everything you ever wished that I would be. I tell the boys stories of you all the time. <3
