James R. Powell

James R. Powell, age 76, of Payson, IL, died on Sunday, March 17, 2013 in Blessing Hospital. He was born on January 21, 1937 in Quincy, a son of Lafe & Mildred (Cutforth) Powell. He married Mary L. Dobias on April 11, 1964. She survives.

James served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

He was an appliance repairman in the area for many years primarily working for Gem City Electric and Quincy Appliance.

In addition to his wife, Mary, he is survived by:
THREE CHILDREN: Diane Powell of San Antonio, TX, Patricia Powell of Payson, IL and Fr. Michael Powell, OMI of Tewksbury, MA
ONE BROTHER, Gerald Powell of Itasca, IL

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Mary Baker and brother, Donald Powell.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 25, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. in St. Brigid Catholic Church, Liberty, IL. Interment in Sunset Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday morning from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. at St. Brigid Church. Memorials may be made to the family. www.dukerandhaugh.com
