James M. ‘Jim’ Vasen

James M. ‘Jim’ Vasen, age 84, of Quincy, died on Saturday, January 21, 2023 in St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. He was born on November 19, 1938 in Quincy the son of Spencer and Edythe (Benore) Vasen. He married Georgia Lierly on November 19th, 1983. She survives.
Jim worked at the Quincy People’s Bank for many years, the bank being co-founded by his father. In later years, Jim was a car salesman for many local car dealerships. Jim served in the National Guard. In his younger years, Jim played baseball in a traveling league. He greatly enjoyed boating and racing. Jim also liked bowling and participated in many leagues at every bowling alley in Quincy and the surrounding areas. Jim also traveled to the bowling nationals every year with friends. He enjoyed time spent going to the Elks, the casinos and playing gaming machines. Above all Jim loved spending time with family and friends, he never missed a gathering!
In addition to his wife, Jim is also survived by:
CHILDREN: Terri Morris (Kenneth) of Quincy and Greg Viar (Deborah) also of Quincy.
GRANDCHILDREN: Heaven (Thomas); Brandon (Annie); Heather, Meagan (Walter) and Jordan.
GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Eleanor, Charlotte, Mackenzie, Charlotte, Bridgette, Madeline, Joelle, Mackenzie, Jakob, Sean and Lillie.
Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives also survive.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sandy Wiebring.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held on:
Saturday February 4th, 2023 from 1:00-4:00 pm at the Elks Club in Quincy.
Memorials may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to the Elks Club #100.
The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
