Mr. James L. Myers age 86, of 5406 Skyline Dr. Quincy, died peacefully, surrounded by his family on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 4:40 p.m. in his home. He was born October 6, 1929 in Lewistown, MO a son of James O. and Wilma (Graves) Myers. He married Dorothy A. Rothgeb on June 6, 1953 in Quincy, and she survives.

Jim worked as a semi-truck driver and heavy equipment operator for Carl Ainsworth Trucking Co. of Denver, Colorado for 16 years, prior to his retirement.

He was a 1949 graduate of Quincy Senior High School after which he served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953. Jim was of the Christian faith. He was a member of the Ports of Call Travel Club, traveling extensively to port destinations. He and Dorothy danced together for many years. Jim’s very favorite hobby was cutting wood in the mountains of Colorado. He also enjoyed Elk hunting with his buddies, and tinkering with cars.

Survivors also include, his twin daughters, Kathie Marx and her husband Tom; Karrie Smith and her husband Craig; and Marty Loos, who he called his third daughter, all of Quincy. A sister, Donna Marie Benton and her husband Jim of Alliance, NE; 3 grandchildren, Tory Kaufmann, Tyler Kaufmann and Josh Marx; two great grandchildren, Peyton and August Kaufmann; an aunt, Evelyn Myers of Quincy; a nephew, William Burnham of Lone Rock, WI and several cousins also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Betty Jean Burnham.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 16, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment will be in Quincy Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday from Noon until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Quincy Humane Society or the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness.
