James L. Holtman

James L. Holtman, age 69, of 5025 Sunview Dr., Quincy, died on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at 5:03 p.m. in his home. He was born on July 26, 1945 in Quincy, a son of Warren H. & Betty D. (Smith) Holtman. He married Betty “B.J.” Orr on August 16, 1986 in Quincy. She survives.

Jim was a graduate of Quincy High School. He worked at Bueters Bakery until it closed and then retired from Prairie Farms Dairy after 30 years working as a machine operator.
He was a member of The Crossing.

Jim enjoyed barbeques, listening to music and umpiring the neighborhood baseball games. He also enjoyed fishing and going to watch the St. Louis Cardinals play.

The time he found most special was the time spent with his family and beloved dogs.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Jessica Holtman & Justin Holtman, both of Quincy; his grandson, Gavin Holtman of Quincy; a sister Joyce L. Reiter of Warsaw, IL; and a cousin Patsy Meckes of Quincy.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law John Reiter.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Quincy Humane Society.

    I lived next door to Jimmy for over twenty years growing up. Will miss him greatly as I always enjoyed his humor and love of the Cardinals.
